CPR CLASS , I HAVE TO SAY IS THE MOST USEFUL THING I EVER LEARNED IN MY LIFE
when a life is involved anyone should be able to do something to save a person .
Therefore, bellow is some very simple steps and information that every human been
should have in as knowledge as we never know whn we can save a life.
Why is CPR important
1) Use to bring back to life someone how is not breathing or unconscious.
2) Providing basic assistant while waiting for paramedic team to arrive
When should we perform CPR
Performed on patients with cardio-pulmonary arrest due to:
- low heart beat
-Asphyxiation due to law oxygen intake
- Esophageal blockage
- drowning
- Electric shock
- Hypothermia
-trauma
IMPORTANT STEPS TO PERFORMING WHEN DOING CPR
STEP 1 Look for signs of Danger
- first ensure that you and victim are in a safer environment example like live electric wire, fire, falling beam, smoky surroundings and more as your own safety always comes first and you do not want to become a victim yourself.
- move victim to a flat surface preferably on the ground.
STEP 2 Check for Responsiveness:
- tap or shake the victim's shoulders and shout into the ears "Are you ok ?/ Are you alright ?" then look for following responses on the victim (roving of eyeballs, trying to speak, moving the arms, fingers, legs or toes).
* The victim is declared 'unconscious and unresponsive' only if none or the above mentioned responses are not see.
- check for absent or abnormal breathing which can be either no breathing or only gasping by looking at or scanning the chest wall movement for 5-10 seconds.
STEP 3 Activate EMS (Emergency Medical System/Service)
- if rescuer is alone with the victim or there are people around call 999 and provide the following necessary information to them which are narrate what has happen, number of victims, exact location, your hand phone number and remind them to bring the Automated Electrical Defibrillator.
Step 4 Checking for Circulation
- check for the carotid pulse for about 5-10 seconds.
- if there is no pulse ONLY THEN start chest compression.
Step 5 Chest Compression
- make sure the victim is lying on the back on a firm, flat surface. If the victim is lying face down, then carefully roll onto the back.
- knee on any side of patient with knees together by the sides of patient's lower part of chest wall( preferably to the right side) and then leans on to the patient so that rescuers shoulders are directly over the victim's shoulder.
- locate the sternum for performing chest compression by placing the heel of the left hand on the center of the victim's sternum along the nipple line
- without moving the left hand from the chest wall, remove right hand alone and place it over the left hand and interlock the fingers.
- straighten elbow and lock the elbow and position the shoulders directly over the victim's shoulder.
- push hard and fast 30 compression in a smooth fashion which is at the rate of 100 compression/minute.
STEP 6 Opening the Airways
- open the airway and give effective breaths in a victim who is unconscious as the tongue falls back into the oropharynx and obstructs the airway which is the common cause for obstruction of airway.
- prevent the tongue for obstruction by applying HEAD TILT CHIN LIFT
STEP 7 Rescue Breathes
- Mouth to mouth is a quick and effective way of providing oxygen to the victim. Here the rescuer's exhaled air is used to meet the victim's oxygen demand; as it contains approximately 17% oxygen and 4% carbon dioxide
