MIKADO TRULY AFRICAN

We where asked to share a game of childhood .MIKADO , was a game that i use to play with my friends. I consider that , it has played a large role in keeping us busy when we weren't  allowed to play outside due to the bad weather. The roles were simple and very basic but GOD knows how we had fun playing MIKADO.
I can be sure exactly witch part of Africa the game originated from but we can say that this game has been around for ages.  I was introduce to it by my grandma , one day and since then i fail in love with it. Nevertheless ,even though it looks easy to play it has aspect of strategies and dexterity that have to be applied in other to win .

The rules

1) Number of players 2 to 4
2)You have to pick up sticks of satay with a specific colors withought moving the rest.
3)The twist of this game is that when picking up a stick , you move an other you will be PUNISHED ( eg : playing the rest of the game with one hand on the floor or something of the same line.

ORIENTEERING REFLETION

What is Orienteering?

What is Orienteering?

According to Heather Williams Orienteering is a sport in which orienteers use an accurate, detailed map and a compass to find points in the landscape. It can be enjoyed as a walk in the woods or as a competitive sport.

A standard orienteering course consists of a start, a series of control sites that are marked by circles, connected by lines and numbered in the order they are to be visited, and a finish. The control site circles are centered around the feature that is to be found; this feature is also defined by control descriptions (sometimes called clues). On the ground, a control flag marks the location that the orienteer must visit.

To verify a visit, the orienteer uses a punch hanging next to the flag to mark his or her control card. Different punches make different patterns of holes in the paper.

The route between "controls" (refers to the flag or the site) is not specified, and is entirely up to the orienteer; this element of route choice and the ability to navigate through the forest are the essence of orienteering.

Most orienteering events use staggered starts to ensure that each orienteer has a chance to do his or her own navigating, but there are several other popular formats, including relays and events in which the orienteer must find as many controls as possible within a specified time.

1)    Why was the orienteering useful to me?

Orienteering was a very usefully skill to acquire . This knowledge will enable me to find direction using a campus. Am now able to find my way anywhere  ,only by using some  bearing.

2) How does the outdoor activity contribute to my personal development?

This outdoor activity ,has help me understand more about Malaysian beautiful landscape by connecting more with the fauna  and flora .

3)What were the problems encountered in completing the activity? (e.g. timing, communicating with members, etc.)

When we started the activity, no one knew how to use a campus to find the direction. But we worked as a team to allocate different task to be able to finish the task given. We had communication skill everyone was attentive to any details given by the team leader. The only issue came about, when the different cheek point were mixed up by another team making everyone confused during the activities.

4)How did I overcome the problems?

We overcome this problem by being able to communicate as a group and not rushing to make decision or action withought having a common understanding. I believe that communication is the key successes to complete such activities.

      5) Does my involvement in outdoor adventure output have social value? Explain
I have learned to listen to specific information and guideline. To be punctual when  respect other people opinions. My communication skills have greatly improved as well. We all gained leadership attribute during this activity.

CPR AKA Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

CPR CLASS , I HAVE TO SAY  IS THE MOST USEFUL THING I EVER LEARNED IN MY LIFE
when a life is involved anyone should be able to do something to save a person .
Therefore, bellow is some very simple steps and information that every human been
should have in as  knowledge as we never know whn we can save a life.

Why is CPR important
1) Use to bring back to life someone how is not breathing or unconscious.
2) Providing basic assistant while  waiting for paramedic team to arrive
When should we perform CPR

Performed on patients with cardio-pulmonary arrest due to:
- low heart beat
-Asphyxiation due to law oxygen intake
-  Esophageal blockage
- drowning
- Electric shock
- Hypothermia
-trauma

IMPORTANT STEPS TO PERFORMING WHEN DOING CPR
STEP 1 Look for signs of Danger
- first ensure that you and victim are in a safer environment example like live electric wire, fire, falling beam, smoky surroundings and more as your own safety always comes first and you do not want to become a victim yourself.
- move victim to a flat surface preferably on the ground.

STEP 2 Check for Responsiveness:
- tap or shake the victim's shoulders and shout into the ears "Are you ok ?/ Are you alright ?" then look for following responses on the victim (roving of eyeballs, trying to speak, moving the arms, fingers, legs or toes).
* The victim is declared 'unconscious and unresponsive' only if none or the above mentioned responses are not see.
- check for absent or abnormal breathing which can be either no breathing or only gasping by looking at or scanning the chest wall movement for 5-10 seconds.

STEP 3 Activate EMS (Emergency Medical System/Service)
- if rescuer is alone with the victim or there are people around call 999 and provide the following necessary information to them which are narrate what has happen, number of victims, exact location, your hand phone number and remind them to bring the Automated Electrical Defibrillator.

Step 4 Checking for Circulation

- check for the carotid pulse for about 5-10 seconds.
- if there is no pulse ONLY THEN start chest compression.

Step 5 Chest Compression
- make sure the victim is lying on the back on a firm, flat surface. If the victim is lying face down, then carefully roll onto the back.
- knee on any side of patient with knees together by the sides of patient's lower part of chest wall( preferably to the right side) and then leans on to the patient so that rescuers shoulders are directly over the victim's shoulder.
- locate the sternum for performing chest compression by placing the heel of the left hand on the center of the victim's sternum along the nipple line
- without moving the left hand from the chest wall, remove right hand alone and place it over the left hand and interlock the fingers.
- straighten elbow and lock the elbow and position the shoulders directly over the victim's shoulder.

- push hard and fast 30 compression in a smooth fashion which is at the rate of 100 compression/minute.

STEP 6 Opening the Airways
- open the airway and give effective breaths in a victim who is unconscious as the tongue falls back into the oropharynx and obstructs the airway which is the common cause for obstruction of airway.
- prevent the tongue for obstruction by applying HEAD TILT CHIN LIFT

STEP 7 Rescue Breathes
- Mouth to mouth is a quick and effective way of providing oxygen to the victim. Here the rescuer's exhaled air is used to meet the victim's oxygen demand; as it contains approximately 17% oxygen and 4% carbon dioxide
